Anyone my age or older should remember the old Calgon commercials on television. The commercials always showed some absolutely stunning young woman rushing around trying to get things completed for the day, taking care of her family, cooking dinner, etc. You can see in the commercial that the beautiful woman’s nerves were worn thin that day because she throws her hands into the air and says, “CALGON! TAKE ME AWAY!” So as soon as she draws herself a bath and pours some Calgon into her water, she begins to feel better. As she slips her flawless body into the water, all her troubles are melted away!
Well let me tell you how I have been a walking-talking Calgon commercial this past week…
It all started with the fact that the semester started back up at Middle Tennessee State University. I have been so unprepared for this. I have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from now until mid December. I am taking thirteen hours this semester, so I am thankful that I only have to actually go to class twice a week. But between the photo shoot I had on Monday, class on Tuesday, my puppy having surgery on Wednesday, my new website going live on Wednesday, class on Thursday, and the disaster with me losing every single thing I’ve ever blogged about in previous months or years, I feel like throwing my hands in the air and yelling, “CALGON! TAKE ME AWAY!”
So let’s discuss the blog situation…
I had previously been using a fairly new web designer for all of my website needs. He was inexpensive so he was a great person to start out with as a new photographer. He did a great job with most of my stuff, but as I grew as a photographer, it was obvious that it was time for me to find another website developer. Not because there was anything wrong with him… don’t get me wrong. He is great. As a matter of fact, if you need a website I would definately recommend him. But photographers need to update the pictures on their website almost weekly, if not daily, and it was beginning to get difficult to get in touch with him to get much of anything changed. To be honest… I probably bugged him so much that he was happy to see me go. I can assure you that he wished he had charged me more money than he did! LOL! Anyway… I bought a wonderful website design from another company that allows me to update my own pictures and text anytime I want. So the transition of moving my domain from one hosting company to the next proved to be a huge headache! Why? I thought you would never ask!
My blog disappeared! Every single topic that I’ve ever written about on my blog is gone! I could almost cry right now. I had some wonderful stuff! I had just begun writing a monthly blog that spotlights a another photographer. I had already written a spotlight on two wonderful photographers by the name of Jack Spencer and Jason Christopher. I had blogs that discussed lighting, composition, fun photo shoots, adventures, and more!… ALL GONE! Apparently the site developer that I had been using was unable to transfer my old blog over to the new hosting company. I’m not really sure why this is since the blog company I use offers free backup, but he knows more than me about it so I’m moving on!
So now I have to start my blog all over! And this means great news for one lucky high school Senior and one bride-to-be! That’s right! I am giving away a portrait session to a SENIOR and a BRIDE! In order to win, all you have to do is go to my website and fill out the contact form, sign up to be on my mailing list, and then also comment on this blog post! So you have three things to do! The last day to enter for this drawing will be September 25th! Bridal Session

Senior Portrait Sample
The winning Senior and the winning Bride, will receive a free Senior Portrait or Bridal session. Approximately three to four weeks after the session, they will receive a cd containing a high resolution images of all edited photos that can be printed by any printing company of your choice or even with me for high quality prints! What an amazing opportunity for some lucky Senior who agrees with me that the local photographer that is contracted with most Tennessee schools is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! And what an amazing opportunity for some lucky bride-to-be to win a fabulous bridal shoot before her wedding day that will be way more fabulous than the standard bride at the altar shots. Even if you are personally not in need of one of these portrait sessions, I’m sure you know someone who knows someone who is! So pass my blog url along to all of your friends and family and have them do the same. Getting free stuff is always nice, and it is such a great feeling for you to know that you helped make it possible for someone else.
WHEW!!… I’m exhausted just thinking about it! But I’m also excited about having such a great time! In the mean time, I hope that you will all stay tuned into my new blog where giving away all this free stuff may just become habit for me! We will just have to see how many people are actually tuning in and commenting. So tell your friends… tell your family… tell your co-workers, and be sure to check in with the blog at least once a week. GOOD LUCK with the drawing!
