Have you ever had one of those moments when you realized something was upon you, and you hear “DING DING DING DING DING” in you head? Well I had one of those moments this morning! The only problem was, I didn’t hear “DING DING DING DING DING DING.” Mine sounded more like an alarm that you would hear in one of those old school car alarms from the 90′s.
So my eleven year old daughter, Sidney and I were cleaning out a closet that is full of board games and old VHS movies. It was so cluttered that we couldn’t even get a game out to play. So while we are cleaning, Sidney looks at the VHS tapes and realizes that they are old school now because even she watches DVD’s and she says, “Mom… what did you do when you wanted to watch movies when you were my age?” (Insert alarm sound here) Talk about feeling old! Just exactly how old does she think I am?
So after I kindly explained to her that VHS tapes and VCR’s were around when I was her age, she says, “Wow! I didn’t realize VHS tapes and VCR’s were so old. I thought they were invented when I was little. I didn’t even think they had tv’s back then.” (Insert another alarm sound here)
Leave it to my beautiful, sweet, innocent eleven year old daughter to make me realize, I AM OLD! I never felt old until this morning when she said that to me! LOL! I’m only 34 years old for crying out loud!
This is my beautiful baby girl Sidney. Well she actually isn’t a baby anymore. That title was replaced by Sidney’s two year old sister, Peyton. But up until Peyton came home, we continued to call Sidney “the baby.” Maybe that is why she is so rotten. You think?
