I was so super duper excited to see this week’s theme over at I Heart Faces. This week it is all about pets! And if you have followed my blog for any amount of time then you know that my dogs get more love around this house than my own kids! Well that may be stretching it a little, but I really really love my dogs!
I actually have three big beautiful dogs… one Doberman and two Great Danes. The Danes are both rescues, and every since my eyes have been opened to the world of both Great Danes and rescue dogs… I’m pretty sure I have found my purpose in life!
Can I take this moment to say… Please spay and neuter your pets! And if you are looking to add a pet to your family, please consider looking at your local shelter and rescue groups. There are so many unwanted animals, and even animals that have gotten lost from their families. But they all deserve a happy, loving home! There are way too many animals being killed in shelters every day. So please spay and neuter to help control the number of pets that are killed in those shelters!
It was so hard to pick which picture to use in this challenge! I am constantly putting my dogs in front of the camera and I have so many photos of them. But I chose this photo of my first Dane, Kira. This photo was taken about three or four days after Kira came to live with us. When we first got her, she was severely underweight and timid. You can even see her ribs in this photo, and her hip bones almost made me cry. But now I am happy to say that she has put on almost 30 pounds and she shows us so much love and appreciation!
This was Kira’s very first (of many) hiking trip with me. She had a fabulous time, although she seems to be a little afraid of water. Every time she would run ahead of me, I knew it wouldn’t be long before she was doubling back to make sure that her new mommy was okay. I waited to grab this shot as she turned the corner heading back to check on me. I knew that just like all of the previous times she had turned back, that she would be prancing like a deer with her head held high! She is so regal and prissy! And I can’t begin to tell you how much she completes my family!
I could go on and on and on about my pets.
Be sure to head on over to the I Heart Faces site to see all the other pets getting all the attention this week from other fabulous photographers.
