Choosing the right wedding photographer can be stressful… especially when you are trying to choose the right catering company, the best wedding planner, a videographer, your florist, etc. etc. Let’s face it! Planning a wedding can be a headache! That is why you really need to focus on choosing those vendors who fit your personality, or who will not be adding any additional stress for you on your wedding day. And since your wedding photographer is probably one of the most intimate relationships you will have with any wedding vendor, I thought I would help you gain an insight to my personality by posting ten random things that make me smile. But that’s not all… I am going to share ten random things that make me frown as well!
Ten Random Things That Make Me Smile
1. Singing Miley Cyrus songs into my hairbrush in front of the bathroom mirror with my eleven year old and three year old daughters.
2. Hiking with my fantastic dogs… a Doberman and two Great Danes that I rescued!
3. My Friday nights when I get to snugggle on the couch with my hubby or my daughter, watching a movie and pigging out on popcorn and chocolate.
4. Arrington Vineyards “Gewurztraminer” wine. I call it the “G” wine because I have no idea how to pronounce it!
5. Finding that the Publix has raw jumbo shrimp on sale at the seafood counter because I know I’m going to get fed a yummy homemade shrimp pasta dinner by my amazing husband… Did I mention he is amazing?
6. Exploring nature with my camera. It still amazes me how perfectly God created our world. I am amazed at how everything in nature lives and adapts to change… how everything has a purpose and every life existence on the planet is dependent upon the various life forms found outdoors… as well as how perfectly harmoniously they all work together. It is when I am outdoors in nature with my camera, that I feel God’s presence… especially at a waterfall!
7. Peanut butter and chocolate!
8. My one true friend who puts just as much effort into our friendship as most people put into their marriage!
9. I love it when my two year old daughter says, “I want to hold you” when she wants me to pick her up!
10. Knowing that I am helping an animal in need with the work I do for Dames For Danes Great Dane Rescue… even if the only thing I do is a simple home visit or redesign their website! Although… I have to admit that I fostered and later adopted an AMAZING Dane from them as well, which rounded out my family of three dogs!
Ten Random Things That Make Me Frown
1. When I see a Great Dane (or any animal really) that has been neglected or abused!
2. I have dairy food issues. It totally grosses me out to share ice cream, milk, or even cheese dip at the Mexican restaurant! Anything dairy… BACK OFF and get your own! Buffets are a HUGE no no, and restaurants that serve family-style meals are questionable.
3. I hate the way Twitter seems to feel like a popularity contest sometimes.
4. The heat index!
5. Whac-A-Mole (parents of toddlers… feel my pain?)
6. When the furniture in my house gets re-arranged because my giant dogs decide they want to rough house!
7. My oldest child is starting high school this year, and my middle child is starting middle school. I’m not ready for this yet! I’m really going to be torn up when my three year old starts Kindergarten. (We spaced their ages out quite a bit, can you tell?)
8. Lack of blog comments… especially from the people who you think should be supporting you.
9. The thought of my 92 yr old grandfather living alone in Louisiana where he wants to be to live out the rest of his years… it would take us ten hours to get to him if we needed to, and we’ve already had one incident!
10. The fact that I STILL haven’t gotten the Droid update that is supposed to allow me to view flash websites!
So there ya have it! There is a little more insight into who I am as a person!
Try to get to know your possible wedding photographers on a personal level! Read their blog. Go with your instincts about them during your consultation. Although word of mouth referrals from your friends who have used a specific vendor themselves is a GREAT way to go, be careful about limiting yourself to someone who was referred to you by one who pays rent under the same roof. Not to say that EVERY one stop shop is like this, but some of them are required to refer each other simply because they rent booth space from the same “club”. Let me pause here to say that I am not referring to EVERY one stop shop. I do not know enough about them to say that they all work the same. So please don’t go putting words in my mouth. LOL.
So I hope that this post opens up my personality to some of you, and encourages you to schedule that consultation. Just remember, if the consultation feels awquard, it will feel just as awquard, if not more, when your photographer is pointing a camera in your face all day long on your wedding day. And I don’t care how much you like that photographer’s style of photography… if you are uncomfortable on your wedding day, it will show in your photos. No photographer can make you look happy and radiant if you do not FEEL happy and radiant! This is why you need to be comfortable and confident with all of your wedding vendors!
Be sure to check out my wedding packages here. And remember that all packages can be customized to fit your product needs and your budget!
Happy planning!
