Saturdays with the family do not happen very often. I am never home on the weekends! If I am not shooting a wedding, then I am usually trying to find something to do that will get me out of the house or my office since I’ve spent the entire week staring at a computer screen. And since hiking has become a huge part of my weekends (assuming the humidity doesn’t kill me) I wanted to get my family out doing what I love to do! I chose an easy trail around Percy Priest, loaded up the dogs and the family, and spent the day outdoors with the people who mean the most to me.

This happened to be Peyton’s VERY FIRST EVER hike! Yes… she is three years old! I’m breaking her in early. She loved being outdoors with us, and she found a million critters that she wanted to point out. She is definitely a girlie girl, though. She screams at any kind of bug or rodent as if her life is about to be over. LOVE IT!

It didn’t take Peyton long to start complaining about being tired. But I couldn’t expect much more than that out of a three year old girl, right? I was just very happy to be out doing what I love to do, and being able to do it with the people whom I love the most!

The caterpillar is one critter that she never has been afraid of. You can see her little hand in the photo where she is trying to reach to pick it up. Sadly… she stepped on it when we finished taking this photo. So long beautiful butterfly.

After hiking around the lake, we decided to stop at the grocery store and grab the makings of picnic and head to the park. After eating a sandwich and drowning ourselves in a case of bottled water, Scott and I relaxed with the dogs while the kids had a blast playing on the playground. The little yellow caterpillar below ate our leftovers.

I seem to be posting a lot about my family lately. I tend to use this blog as a place to discuss what is important to me. And I love being able to look back through my own posts to remind myself of how I felt, or what was weighing on me at the time. Recently I have been blessed with the realization of just how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family. God has blessed me way more than I deserve!
