Have you ever had one of those mornings when you woke up and just knew that it was going to be a horrible day? Somehow you just know by the smell of the air or the eerie quietness that suddenly overwhelms you when you roll over in the bed. Well… yesterday was one of those type of days.
It started at 6:30 in the morning when I woke up and realized that the electricity was out. I’m not sure what happened, but the entire street was out. No biggie… I’ll just go back to sleep! Yeah right! The three electric trucks in the street that beep every time they back up woke up Peyton so she was crawling in the bed with me… which would have been nice and sweet if she was interested in going back to sleep. But she wanted to crawl around in the big bed and look out the front window! (sighs)
Fast forward an hour later… Sidney calls me from school to inform me that she forgot to wear a belt and that I have 15 minutes to get there with a belt for her or they will put her in ISS (in school suspension)! 15 MINUTES! Are you kidding me? I still have no electricity, and I sure haven’t had a shower! But a mother must do what a mother must do! So I throw my funky hair into a pony-tail, throw Peyton in her car-seat, and rush the belt to Sidney at school!
All of this before 7:30 am, and I still haven’t had any coffee because my electricity is out! So my smart cells started working and I realized that it may be a while before I have power again… and gas station coffee is better than no coffee! So off to the Mapco I go! I’m carrying Peyton around on my hip while I’m trying to fix a cup of coffee, and she is screaming for the four packs of powdered donuts behind me. I’m beginning to feel my blood pressure rise again like I described in an earlier post. And just when I am about to explode with smoke coming out of my ears like Elmer Fudd in a crazy Bugs Bunny commercial, my eyes wandered to a bag of nuts that were for sale and the calming sensation suddenly washed over me like a warm chocolate fondue fountain!
There they were… just lying in that basket next to the cash register… chanting my name! Wendy! Wendy! Wendy!
I have looked for these nuts every since Meagan shared her mid wedding-day snack with me a few weeks ago while we were shooting a wedding! Maybe it was because I was absolutely STARVING to death (which is normal on a wedding day) or maybe it was because these nuts were actually great! Who knows? But I had not been able to find them at the store… until today… when they appeared out of nowhere, at just the right moment!
So needless to say, the Jonny Almond Nut Company saved the day! And that horrible day that I just knew I was in store for, turned out to be a fantastic day after all… especially after 10:00 am when my electricity came back on and I was able to throw the nuts into the microwave for a few seconds! Oh my goodness I was in Jonny Almond Heaven! It was like eating nuts right out of the roaster! But isn’t it funny how something as simple as a bag of nuts can turn things around? And imagine my surprise when I found their website! I can’t wait to order the cinnamon!

So there you have it internet friends! I have shared an insight into just how “nutty” I really am! My morning had started off totally bad, but quickly turned around when I sat down with a mid morning snack of Honey, Honey, Yeah flavored nuts! Hey! It’s the small things, ya know?
