52 Weeks of Composition + Week 11

I am hoping not to get too far behind on the 52 Weeks of Composition posts. I can really tell that this challenge is helping me to force myself to think about the shot before shooting it. I don’t know if any of you other photographers have had a chance to tune into Bambi Cantrell’s weekend long workshop with Creative Live or not, but she made a comment on Friday that really stuck with me because it is EXACTLY what this challenge is about for me. She said, “There are no happy accidents.” What she was referring to is that she plans every single aspect of her shot. She does not start shooting away and then end up with a ton of shots that she will end up throwing away. THAT is exactly what I hope to accomplish.

On another note, I wend to Old Stone Fort with the family Friday evening and we camped in the camper. After a night of absolutely zero sleep, Tyler and I hiked over to Step Falls inside the park to grab a few shots of the waterfalls. I was not in the best of moods, if you can imagine after zero sleep… and I am not exaggerating. But on the way over to the falls, there were three or four huge patches of flowers reaching high into the sky, and my mood suddenly changed. This confirms that spring is finally here! I am so ready for spring!
