I’m not really sure when it happened. I have always considered myself hip, stylish, young, and capable of running with the cool kids. I have always felt like “that cool mom” that every child (other than my own of course) wishes they could have. But then one day as I was walking through Dillard’s trying to figure out which makeup counter to walk up to because I needed some foundation (and I have never been very loyal to any particular brand) I got suckered by the Lancome counter into participating in allowing some major international makeup artist (who just so happened to be in the store that day) to give me a makeover! Of course I agreed! I mean… I’m a photographer. I can TOTALLY appreciate a great makeup artist!
But I learned something that day… well actually more than one thing but I’m getting to that. I learned that international makeup artists who are employed by a particular brand of products, are not there to only do your makeup. They are there to sell you products. So what did I do? I purchased $200 worth of Lancome products that I HATED! UGH!
Luckily the girls at the Lancome counter were sympathetic to my first experience with Lancome. Kassandra, who I must give a little shout out to here on the blog, was very willing to allow me to return my products to the store the next day. I am one of those types of people who HATE to moisturize because I hate the feeling of thickness on my face. I very rarely wear foundation because I hate the way it feels on my face! But when I went into Dillards to return my “$200 worth of purchase on a whim because I got suckered” products, Kassandra spent time showing me some products that she thought I would actually like, because she too hates the feeling of thickness on her face.
And this is where I realized that I am getting old!
Kassandra showed me a product called Genefique Yeux Light-Pearl and Visionnaire! (insert angels singing here)
When she applied the Genifique to the underside of my eye, I literally watched magic happen right before my eyes. It lifted and firmed the skin under my eye immediately. It almost made my untreated eye look saggy as if I had possibly had a stroke. NO JOKE this stuff was that powerful! And the Visionnaire that she put on my face felt like satin. She sent me home with about two weeks worth of samples to try and told me to come back on September 30th because their “gift with purchase” would begin on that day!
YES I DID! I was probably one of the first customers in their store that day! I never realized that my skin was getting wrinkles and sagging until she showed me in the store what that product could do! Now I feel like I need it as much as I need my underwear in order to leave the house. And I am also here to tell you that they have a foundation that I can wear over these products that gives me all day coverage without feeling like I dipped my face in an oil pan!
Okay I sound like I am a walking talking billboard for Lancome. I swear I’m not! But I am definitely a loyal customer of Kassandra’s now!
