About Me

Wendy C. Photography is run by me, Wendy Cunningham. I grew up in Louisiana, and I moved to Tennessee in 1991, just three short years before I graduated high school. I majored in Businesses Education at MTSU, with a strong emphasis in Marketing and Economics, with the plan that I would graduate and teach high school. However I decided during my last semester at MTSU that I did not want to teach high school. What I really wanted to do was chase my dream of being a photographer. So that is what I did!

I am married to the most amazing man, Scott, and we have three beautiful children! I am heavily involved in Great Dane rescue, having adopted two of my own. I love the outdoors... especially white water rafting and hiking. One of my favorite things to do is load up my dogs in the car and head out to one of Tennessee's amazing hiking trails that lead to a waterfall. There is something so beautiful about spending time with my dogs on the trail because it is there that I feel closest to God.

Wedding photography, for me, is about being able to feel what the bride and groom and their friends and family are feeling. It is about being in the moment and reacting immediately to what I see, and capturing those moments with my camera. It is more than watching a routine happen throughout the day. I do not rely on what I see with my eyes. It is about feeling with my heart. My images are full of emotion because that is who I am. Keep on reading for more fun facts about me!

Ten Random Things That Make Me Smile:

1. Singing Miley Cyrus songs into my hairbrush in front of the bathroom mirror with my eleven year old and three year old daughters.

2. Hiking with my fantastic dogs… a Doberman and two Great Danes that I rescued!

3. Arrington Vineyards “Gewurztraminer” wine. I call it the “G” wine because I have no idea how to pronounce it!

4. Mexican cheese dip with a side of peanut butter and chocolate!

5. Finding that the Publix has raw jumbo shrimp on sale at the seafood counter because I know I’m going to get fed a yummy homemade shrimp pasta dinner by my amazing husband… Did I mention he is amazing?

6. Visiting a new waterfall that I've never seen... especially if I have to hike all day to get to it!

7. My true friends! I have been blessed with a few of the greatest friends on the planet!

8. I love it when my two year old daughter says, “I want to hold you” when she wants me to pick her up!

9. Exploring nature with my camera. It still amazes me how perfectly God created our world. I am amazed at how everything in nature lives and adapts to change… how everything has a purpose and every life existence on the planet is dependent upon the various life forms found outdoors… as well as how perfectly harmoniously they all work together. It is when I am outdoors in nature with my camera, that I feel God’s presence.

10. Friday nights when I get to snugggle on the couch with my hubby or my daughter, watching a movie and pigging out on popcorn and chocolate.
