♥ Halee and Shane’s Wedding ♥
Nashville Wedding Photographer: Wendy C. Photography

The day started out with total communication melt-down!  WHERE ARE THE RINGS?  After arriving at the venue without the rings, and making several panic stricken phone calls, the rings were recovered and all was back on track!… or was it?

When the ceremony started, my second shooter Meagan realized that the rings were, ONCE AGAIN, MIA when the ring bearer walked down the aisle without the ring pillow!  It isn’t very often that a couple will actually tie the rings to the pillow and put them in the trust of a young boy, but this little boy was not just any little boy.  This was the bride’s son, and the groom’s soon-to-be step son!  So what did Meagan do?  She immediately ran to the back row and alerted someone that the rings had been left in the Cabana House!  Luckily they were retrieved from the Cabana House just in time, and the wedding guests never knew anything had gone wrong!  This, by the way, is why Meagan will always be my first choice for a second shooter!

Shane had a surprise for his new step-son Eli during the ceremony!  He had a necklace made that had a cross shaped charm, as well as a small dog tag style charm that Shane had engraved.  On one side the tag read, “Today we become a family. 6-5-2010.” And on the other side it read, “Love Tall Daddy Shane” , which is what Eli calls him.  This particular moment was probably the single most emotional moment I’ve ever witnessed at a wedding.  If I’ve ever worried about sobbing so much that I can’t hold my camera steady, it was at this wedding!  Just look at this little boy’s reaction as his new step-father made this vow to him!

The bride was absolutely stunning!

The groom was charming and handsome!

And this wedding, which took place nestled in the heart of horse country at Cheval Manor in Murfreesboro, TN was packed full of western charm.  From the boots filled with sparklers, the straw hat filled with matches, and the traffic directors on horseback… this western theme wedding was a hit!

It never fails!  Every wedding I shoot makes me melt!    And when I left Halee and Shane’s wedding, I knew that I left with a great new friendship (even if Shane is an Alabama football fan)!  Halee and Shane… congratulations on your marriage!  I pray that you will both be as happy 60 years from now as you are on this day!  Have fun in Jamaica!  Bella will be waiting on you to bring her some jamaican puppy treats!

What Does It Mean To Shoot From The Heart? Nashville Wedding Photographer: Wendy C. Photography

One of the main reasons that I chose to focus on wedding photography as my specialty is because of the way it makes me feel when I experience a couple joining their lives together.  There are so many different emotions that go along with a wedding, and each emotion may be experienced by everyone there… inluding the bride and groom, parents, grandparents, guests, and children!  You never know where people have been in their lives, and you never know what the situation is or what they have been through to get them to this wedding!

Every now and then I get to experience something that is so special, and so emotional that it brings me to tears!  You would think that as many weddings as I shoot that I would be used to it all by now.  But I’m just a big ol’ baby!  Every couple and every wedding has a different background… a different future!  And I am humbled when those extraordinary moments happen in my presence!  I am honored to be able to be a part of something so special.  And you know what?  I always end up going home and giving my own husband and children an extra special hug because I am reminded of how much I love them, and how lucky I am myself!

I have a library of images just like this, but here are just a few of the latest emotional moments that I’ve experienced and captured!  What kind of emotional moments did you have at your wedding or a wedding that you have attended?  Is there a wedding that had ONE MOMENT that will remain with you forever?  Leave me a comment!

“Wedding photography, for me, is about being able to feel what the bride and groom and their friends and family are feeling. It is about being in the moment and reacting immediately to what I see, and capturing those moments with my camera. It is more than watching a routine happen throughout the day. I do not rely on what I see with my eyes. It is about feeling with my heart. My images are full of emotion because that is who I am.” ~ Wendy C.

In this photo, we have a bride who broke down crying as her new husband recited his vows to her!  Why is it that I had to adopt the policy that nobody cries alone in my presence?

Here we have a couple of things going on!  First we have a groom that was so overcome with seeing his beautiful bride coming down the aisle that he broke down crying!  I am so thrilled that I was able to capture this moment because this will mean so much to them later.  Another thing we have going on in this photo is that the groom’s sisters are trying to console him as he cries.  I even have a photo of this where one of the other sisters is offering him a tissue.  Granted that most family members of the bride and groom would never get THIS involved as the couple is about to say “I DO”, I found it sweet!

And this one really brought out the tears of every single person at this wedding… especially me.  If there was ever a moment when I was worried about shaking the camera and causing all of the photos to be blurry, it was this one!  This groom dropped to his knees and pledged his devotion to his new six year old step-son!  He presented the little boy with a necklace that he had engraved for him that said, “Today we become a family.”  (I’m almost in tears again as I write this.)  As if the groom’s thoughtfulness and surprise was not enough, the reaction of this little boy sent me over the edge!  Most six year old’s would just be anxious to get this over with so they can hurry up and eat the cake!  But this little boy cried!  He understood COMPLETELY what was going on, and what this marriage meant for both his mother and for him!  Ok… I’m officially crying again!

But what about those behind the scenes moments that most people never get to see, or even realize that they took place?  Isn’t that one of the fabulous things about photos?  The bride and groom get to look back and see things that they never knew about because they were so focused on each other!  In this last photo, you see Meagan getting a hug and a huge thanks from the wedding coordinator because Meagan saved the day when she went running to the coordinator after noticing that the ring bearer was walking up the aisle without the rings!  We happened to know that this couple planned on letting the ring bearer carry the actual rings on the ring pillow, and when he came up the aisle without the pillow Meagan sprung into action!  We photographers wear many hats and you will never hear anyone from Wendy C. Photography say, “That’s not my job!”   This is why I am so proud of Meagan!  This is why she will always be my first choice for a second-shooter!  And this is why I help her with her weddings as well!  We make such a great team!  THANK YOU MEAGAN for making me look good, and for saving the day for that couple!

Mad Gab Monday | Nashville Wedding Photographer: Wendy C. Photography

I hope everyone had a FABULOUS week last week and was able to enjoy your Memorial Day with great food and friends just like I did!  I know you are probably heart-broken over the fact that I did not post a Mad Gab!  But what can I say?  I just couldn’t peel myself away from the grill and that mean fruit thing that G’s wife Sherri brought over!  By the way Sherri… I need that recipe!

Just a quick note before I get on with the Mad Gab for this week…. I will be taking a break during the entire month of July to be with my family and friends on the beach!  I will be spending a month in Pensicola, FL with my childhood friend, Jessica… or Aunt Hot Mamma if you want to call her what my kids call her!  I’m not sure if we will be sun bathing on the beach, or assisting in an oil spill clean-up… but either way I will be on the beach!  I hope to still be able to keep up with the blog, including the mad gab!  But if I am late or miss something don’t hate me!

And all you Nashville Photography Meetup members… I will miss you at Old Stone Fort!  That happens to be one of favorite places in Tennessee and I hold that place dear to my heart for several reasons!  But there will be many people there and I trust that you will help our new members feel welcome!

So now to get on with it!  Here is your Mad Gab for this week!  I hope that this Mad Gab puzzle helps brighten your Monday just a little.  I know it is just a silly online riddle… but it is fun and I personally love reading all the responses from you!  So here we go… REMEMBER… it is what you hear, not what you see.  So type your answers in the comment section and check back Thursday to see everyone’s answers!

Good Food and Fabulous Friends – Memorial Day Pig Out | Nashville Wedding Photographer: Wendy C. Photography

This past Monday was Memorial Day, and in honor of any excuse to get together with friends and fire up the grill, we invited just a few of our closest friends over to help celebrate!  I think we actually counted thirty-four people!  Scott grilled 25 pounds of the most amazing, mouth watering, boneless, country-style pork ribs, and everyone else brought a dish!  I wish I had taken more pictures of the food before we started eating, but everyone came hungry and meant business!

Good food and fabulous friends is always a great recipe for a good time!  Thank you to everyone who came out and spent the afternoon with us at our home.  And thank you for loving my kids and my dogs!

Maddie didn’t leave Daddy’s side for too long while he was grilling because she was really hoping that he would drop something on the ground!

But all the dogs were a huge hit, and it’s a good thing because it’s a package deal baby!  LOL!  I love my dogs, and so did everyone else!

We had a couple of fun games set up out in the yard for entertainment.  I think everyone really enjoyed the “polish golf” game which consisted of tossing a rope with a golf ball connected to each end and wrapping it around a pole.  We also had a game of washers, which looks remotely similar to “penny can” for all you Cougar Town fans!

Needless to say – Peyton slept like a baby Monday night.

Danielle and Alex’s Murfreesboro Wedding

Meagan of M. Fisher Photography asked me to second shoot for her at her Murfreesboro wedding for Danielle and Alex!  What fun!  I love getting to second shoot for her because she is a take charge, get out of my way, I’m going to make your wedding photos fabulous, type of photographer!  And you know what else is particularly fabulous about second shooting?  I get to hand over all of my raw files to her, and I only edit three or four photos out of the entire set!  So here are a few that I chose to work on for me.  I had to show off this groom’s cake, by the way!  It is probably the single most amazing, and unique groom’s cake I’ve ever seen.  Apparently Alex and Danielle have a love for the movie Ice Age, so Danielle’s mother made them a groom’s cake that fit perfectly!  Yes… I said it correctly.  The bride’s mother made this tree trunk shaped cake with their initials carved into the tree, acorn candy topped cupcakes, and all!  Way to go mom!
